  Alliance Farm Training Philosophy for
  Breaking and Starting Horses

At Alliance Farm we believe that starting a horse in a way that they feel they have a "good deal" and are safe with their rider helps them to go on and be better show horses.

Once these horses move into the unfamiliar world of showing and performance they will need a strong foundation to fall back on to be able to find a familiar spot of safety.

The horses that we have started like this are truly better, calmer and happier show horses for many years.

Although we don't get every horse at the beginning of their training and show career we will try to take the time and teach them the basics so that they will have a place of familiarity also.

It depends on the individual horse as to how well it will accept relearning the basics. Most all horses will find the "good deal" If they are shown how.

Committed to Excellence
Everyone at Alliance Farm is dedicated to quality effective horsemanship.
Trace Moffat starts all of the young horses with a gentle touch based on the Natural Horsemanship principals then carries this solid foundation on throughout the individual horses show career.
Natural Horsemanship

Natural Horsemanship allows using the horses natural instincts there communication system and body language for training. Teaching the horse in its own language gains trust, respect and communication

The use of correct positive and negative reinforcement making wrong behavior difficult and correct behavior easy thus removing the punishment and force that was used in the past in training.

Taking in consideration that the horse has a highly developed social system and is very good at reading body language the trainer must be proficient in knowing the horses instincts and their communication system.  Horses are natural followers and prefer following a dependable leader.

Producing a valuable trusting relationship with you and your horse.
